LEADING
Throughout my education experience, I have had the priviledge to develop my skill to create lesson plans for various sub-disciplines. In addition, I have been introduced to different teaching styles that will aid in accomodating class dynamic, and individual unique abilities.
Creative Dance: Geared towards a younger audience that will introduce movement of the body including various physical abilities such as balance, and coordination. Secondly, it integrates art into the lesson, and using resources that are readily available to students as a way to increase enjoyment in participation. Lastly, integrating biology specifically animal migration, and learning a subject that is typically taught passively into a lesson where students can actively participate.
Outdoor Education: A mini lesson plan that can be modified for all ages, and encourages students that learning doesn't always take place inside a classroom. In addition, creating mini lesson is a great to present during fieldtrips increasing the value of the learning that can take place outside, that students can't simply gain sitting in classrooms.
Mental Skills Training: This particular domain is one that I believe is under represented in the school system. However, the way we feel has a great influence on our perception, interaction, decision, and actions. Therefore, it is important to teach students how important it is to not only take care of their body physically but as well as mentally through the development of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and providing them with strategies to deal with different emotions, increasing their success in all types of challenges including those outside of sports and games.
Personalized System Intructions (PSI): A very non traditional way of teaching, but a method that increases participation, provides a more student centered classroom, provides students with a self-paced learning environment, and provides different levels of challenges to accomodate for the different abilities of individual students. This was one of the most extensive, and timely lesson plans I had to create becuase for a PSI to work, everything has to be prepared ahead of time, and in order to motivate students to provide effort it has to be done in a creative way.
